The Phases of Assisted Lymphatic Therapy

The Phases of Assisted Lymphatic Therapy: A Journey Toward Wellness

When I explain the lymphatic system and Assisted Lymphatic Therapy (ALT) to my clients, I find it helps to compare it to something familiar—like preparing to move out of a home. If you've ever cleaned out years of clutter before a big move, you know it's not just one weekend’s job. It's a process that takes time, intention, and the willingness to keep going, even when it gets a little messy. That's exactly how I like to describe lymphatic clearing.

Much like a home that’s been lived in for years, our bodies carry layers of experiences—physical, emotional, and environmental—that accumulate over time. ALT helps to unpack and clear what no longer serves you, one step at a time. Here’s how that typically unfolds for the average client:

1. The Superficial Phase: Planning & Preparation

This is where it all begins. Just like packing up your house starts with a plan, ALT begins with understanding your history—your traumas, lifestyle, health issues, and stressors. While we won’t know everything that’s tucked away in the “closets” of your body, we begin the process with intention and patience.

At this stage, we don’t rush. It’s about laying the groundwork, gently preparing the body to begin releasing. You might start to feel subtle shifts, and that's your body recognizing it’s safe to begin the work. Think of this as noticing the lifeboat that’s pulled up beside you—and deciding to get in and stay in.

2. The Middle Ground Phase: Progress & Momentum

Now the magic begins. After a few sessions—typically around sessions 2 or 3—many clients start to notice real change. It’s like organizing that first closet and feeling motivated to keep going. Suddenly, you’re sleeping better. You have more energy. Movement feels easier. The daily fatigue starts to lift.

This phase is empowering. You’re starting to experience the benefits, and your body is responding with appreciation. You can see the progress, and it fuels your commitment.

3. The Deep Clean Phase: Clearing What’s Hidden

This is where we go deeper. Just like pulling out boxes from the attic you forgot existed, this phase may bring up things your body has been holding onto for years. But don’t worry—this is where the real transformation happens.

Usually between sessions 3 to 5, we’re able to lower the intensity and target deeper lymphatic structures, supporting organ and gland detoxification. For some clients, this phase can unearth emotional or energetic "treasures" that need attention and clearing. With the right support, this is a powerful and beautiful part of the journey—where you can almost see the finish line.

4. The Finish Line Phase: A New Foundation

You did it. This is the phase where clients often say things like, “I didn’t realize how foggy I felt until now.” Increased mobility, improved energy, better rest, and a clearer mind are just some of the gifts that come from this process.

But the best part? You’re not going backwards. ALT isn’t just about healing in the moment—it builds a sustainable foundation. One that can continue to be supported through your lifestyle, your choices, and occasional follow-up visits. It’s not just a reset—it’s a path forward.

Final Thoughts

Whether you're just beginning or already on the path, Assisted Lymphatic Therapy is a gentle yet powerful way to help your body restore balance and vitality. Like moving out of an old home, it’s not always easy—but it's always worth it.
